In 2017 I had a chat with the Dutch DJ Ruff, who lives in the USA. We met at a bar in Zaandam, where he was playing.

We met in 2017, and Irish Olympias Marras, now living in Amsterdam, told me about her DJ debut in May of that year. “I just played what I wanted.”

The Spanish Toni Varga had his first gig in his hometown La Coruña. He was 20. In October 2015 he told me the story of his DJ debut.

Dutch DJ Tek-No-Bee got inspired by the likes of Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills and Carl Cox. In 2015 he told me about his first gig. “When it was my turn to play, it wasn’t very crowded yet.”

Marcel Sprenger aka Marcel-S’s first informal gig was at his cousin’s birthday party. In 2015 he told me about the experience. “Afterwards people came up to me and asked if there was a chance that I would continue to play.”
