We met in 2010 and a couple of years later I interviewed Misja Wielings aka Dutch DJ/producer Misja Xampl about his entrance in the dance scene and his DJ debut. “After three months of spending sixteen hours a day behind the turntables, I was able to mix perfectly.”

“In 1988 I had just turned 17 and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. In the period when I was searching my purpose, one night I ended up at a party. I was fascinated by the DJ. Not by him as a person, because honestly, I don’t even remember who it was, but by what he did.”

Hangover

“The following morning, I took myself and my hangover to the Waterlooplein in Amsterdam and immediately bought two old beltdrive Technics. Then I started practicing.”

Club iT

“After three months of spending sixteen hours a day behind the turntables, I was able to mix perfectly. I knew the owner of the legendary club iT, Manfred Langer. He gave me the opportunity to play.”

Feeling

“Of course, I was terribly nervous for this first gig, but in the end, I instinctively followed my heart and my feeling. This has always been my personal best teacher: my gut feeling.”

Liberating

“It felt liberating to play in a club and take people to an ecstatic euphoria with the music that I had chosen. This, combined with the extravagant, partying iT crowd made the evening to a perfect event. Manfred was also satisfied and made me resident on Fridays and Saturdays.”

“Since then, I’ve played in the best clubs worldwide. Recently I even did a tour through China, Indonesia and the Philippines. Besides that, I am a board member of the foundation Don’t Blow It. I will be able to tell you more about this soon.”
